Title: Single-seed Respiration: A New Method to Assess Seed Quality

Objective:

1. Evaluate a new method of measuring single-seed respiration rates for use as a seed quality assessment test.
2. Determine appropriate experimental conditions for seeds of different species to optimize speed and sensitivity of respiration measurements.
3. Determine which components of the respiratory rate measurements are associated with different aspects of seed quality.
4. Determine the respiratory patterns associated with specific differences in seed quality.
5. Determine relevant and effective statistical measures of seed lot quality and uniformity based upon individual seed measurements.
